HR Indiana conference includes ceremony honoring Hoosier
HR professionals

Indianapolis,
IN, September 2, 2011 – The Indiana
State Council of SHRM, as part of the 17th annual HR Indiana
conference, recognized winners of Indiana’s HR professional,
HR volunteers, and chapter of the year awards.
The Award
for Professional Excellence recognizes an individual who
applies
creative management concepts to improve performance,
advance the profession, and promote the understanding of
HR Management. Eileen Shue, SPHR has worked in the field
of human resources for more than 20 years and currently holds
the position of Vice President of Corporate Resources for
The Sterling Group. She is a member of the South Bend based
Michiana SHRM chapter. She is also involved with the St.
Joseph County Chamber of Commerce and was the first female
member and female officer of a local Elks club. She recently
served as a panelist representing SHRM at 2011 Public Health
Preparedness Summit, “Partnering with Business in Pandemic
Preparedness: The Critical Role of Human Resource Policies.
Two active HR professionals Angie Brawdy, SPHR and Marilyn
Clerc, SPHR were named as volunteers of the year. The Volunteer
of the Year award recognizes outstanding leadership, motivation,
and organizational skills to the development of the Indiana
State Council, the local chapter, or other SHRM programs.
Angie is a volunteer at both the local and state level of
SHRM. She currently serves on the Indiana State Council as
the Director at Large. She began her involvement with the
Evansville Area Human Resource Association as a Compensation
Committee member and then took over the Director of Compensation
Survey role. She then moved into the Director of Professional
Development role, then President-Elect, and finally President.
She is also a member of the Youth First HR Committee. She
is the Manager, Compensation Administration for Springleaf
Financial Services. Marilyn has served on the Board of the
Southeast Indiana Human Resource Association in Columbus,
Indiana for the past 7 years. She began as the Vice President,
Public Relations, then moved into the Vice President, Programs
role, before becoming President. She currently serves as
the Director, Legislative Affairs. During her tenure as President
of SIHRA, she implemented a half-day formal orientation and
planning session for chapter board members, leading the chapter
to receive the Silver Award from SHRM in 2010.
The Chapter
of the Year Award recognizes the outstanding achievements
in chapter development and contributions to
the advancement of effective HR management and was presented
to Michiana SHRM. Michiana SHRM has many accomplishments.
They have partnered with the Bridges Out of Poverty agency
in St. Joseph County to help eliminate the high rate of women
continuing the cycle of poverty in their community. They
held an annual conference for the 10th consecutive year,
which continues to grow each year. The chapter held its 1st
Annual Executive/Leadership Forum which was an exclusive
event for business owners, CEO’s, CFO’s and other
senior level managers. They have implemented an HR Certification
Scholarship program in 2011 in addition to awarding two scholarships
to current HR students. In addition, they have developed
a succession plan which has future leaders identified out
to 2014; fully transitioned all program registration fees
to on-line payments; implemented a new newsletter format
and increased SHRM membership. And last, but not least, the
chapter was recently awarded the 2010 SHRM Gold Excel Award
and SHRM’s highest honor, the Pinnacle Award.
